Norcan is looking for Archaeological Field Technicians; these positions will start in the spring and early summer. Within this progressive company, you will be free to stand out. Norcan Consulting Ltd is a privately owned archaeological and cultural heritage consulting firm. Norcan was established in 1994 and has offered its clients various technical and professional services. The company office is in Prince George, British Columbia, with operations being conducted throughout the province. Fieldwork will be located throughout Central British Columbia and is scheduled to begin in May 2023 and end early to mid-October. Depending on changing schedules and weather conditions, this may be extended or shortened. Your duties would be to carry out archaeological surveys, test excavation and mitigate excavation in a cultural resources management setting under the direction of the Field Crew Supervisor. Performing other duties as required, including but not limited to artifact analysis, reporting, and research. Wages range from 25.00 to 40.00 an hour based on qualifications and experience. We'd like to hear from you if you have ... • Archaeology, Anthropology or related Degree from a recognized program or nearing completion. • Relevant experience. • Able to work in varying terrain and weather conditions. • Able to work in very remote settings. • Ability to do strenuous field work, including hiking in uneven terrain, carrying heavy loads and manual excavating. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to take direction and work in a team environment and independently. • Experience with Backroad (FSR) driving, ATV, and UTV is good but not mandatory.
